National Book Tokens – I recently won one!

A couple of weeks ago, I was really excited to hear that I had actually won a National Book Token! This is only the second time in my life that I have ever won a competition! (like literally. The last time I won anything was twenty years ago. I was 16 and I won a giant teddy bear. 😀 ) I am a subscriber of the Caboodle newsletter, which is a rather interesting little jobbie, focussing on competitions, book releases, book signings and other super-duper book related stuff. I think they actually do work closely with National Book Tokens, too. (If you want to see the site itself, here’s the link – Caboodle. I think a lot of the content is only relevant to people in the UK however.)

This is the notification e-mail I received. (obviously, I took out a lot of the personal information like e-mail addresses and whatnot!  I don’t want any unsolicited e-mails about Viagra and I doubt Caboodle do either, hehe. 😀 )

And this is the Book Token itself! In a couple of these pictures, it’s being modelled by a rather cute little vampire.

And here are the book(s) I bought with my token. I chose the Laurell K. Hamilton book for myself, as I love her Anita Blake (and Merry Gentry) books, while the Guy Martin book was for my dad. I decided to share my prize just because I wanted to! 😀 (for those who might not know of him, Guy Martin is an English TV presenter/mechanic/bike racer; he does a lot of shows focussing on vehicle re-builds and races and record-breaking things and the like! Some of his shows are quite interesting, to be honest.)

And because I had a couple of pounds left on my card, I also bought a small pin-badge for myself. I chose the Dracula design as I love vampires. I looked for a dragon one as well, but sadly, they didn’t have one.

Even the bag was cute, that the badge was slipped into.

(how many people really take photos of their carrier bags, I tell thee? Honestly. 😀 )

ETA: the peeps at the National Book Tokens twitter account actually read this post! They replied to my tweet about it and holy focaccia, it’s even featured on their Twitter feed, mwahaha.
